In these trying times with developments concerning Hoboken Police, I would like to assure all residents that Mayor David Roberts, and I are working to ensure stability, leadership and support of our Public Safety Department.
Please be assured that Hoboken has an excellent Police Department, and it is unfortunate that certain allegations have tarnished its reputation. We have offered counseling to members of the Police Department who may feel demoralized. These brave men and women, who risk their lives on a daily basis, are true heroes.
Over the past month I have been "walking the beat." I have met with superiors and the rank and file of both our Police and Fire departments. These are fine individuals, and I will stand up for them as well as our citizens. I have been overwhelmed by their support to get the job done.
You have my word that restoring and preserving truth, honesty and integrity is my paramount mission, as it should be for all public servants.
